Hey, Everybody!

I got to go letterboxing in Lombard yesterday! We took a picnic lunch and ate by the playground in one of the parks. J brought Jack, a stay-at-home coyote buddy, to play with too. We went down the slides and climbed all over everything. We saw a tree near the playground with 8 trunks! Nitrocat was mad at herself later for forgetting to take a picture of it. Then we went to find the Dos Lobos box. We hadn't needed the bugspray on the playground, so we forgot it in the car. That was a big mistake! After we found the box, we had to sit in a circle and brush the mosquitoes off each others backs while Stacy stamped as fast as she could.
It got hotter than we expected so the next box was nice. We went to the Sheldon Peck Homestead Museum and learned alot about the Underground Railroad and how they lived back in the 1800s. We didn't have to go in the museum for the clue, but we decided it would be fun anyway. We ended up spending a long time in there. The girls were really interested in everything from the spinning wheel to the quill pens to the rope bed. Did you know that before box springs were invented, they tied ropes to pegs on the bedframe under the mattress? Stacy says that is where the saying "Sleep tight" comes from. They wanted the ropes tight so the mattress wouldn't sag.
When we left the museum, we found the UGRR Quilt Box #2. It is a very cool stamp of a quilt block called "Wagon Ride". After that we got Slurpies and bottled water to drink in the car. On the way home, we stopped and found the Faith Ring Box. The kittens liked that one because it was a drive by and they got to stay in the car. There was a hitchhiker in that box too!
All in all, it was a pretty good day!
Love,
LBFF
P.S. Nitrocat says "Thanks a lot" for sending the words to my song. Now she has it hopelessly stuck in her head. Hee hee!
pictures to come
